Sneak Peak – The Record Boss

Hi guys,

March 16th is almost upon us!!! Just two days to go until the release of The Record Boss and The Bet. Here’s a little more about The Record Boss. (I’ll do a separate post for The Bet).

**I have attached sample chapters just after the preorder links :-)**

The Record Boss (The Lincolns 4)

If you’re a fan of the Crystal series you’ll love this book because Crystal and Juda make a few appearances, as do Max, Alejandro and a few other Crystal series characters.

My central scripture for this book is Romans 12:1 which says, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”

This book is all about the contrast between life as a servant to the devil and life as a child of God. Before I changed the titles for all the books of this series it was called Poison (remember, Ash’s book, the Model, was originally supposed to be titled ‘Toxic’) so you’ll see the poison references near the end when Nigel’s eyes are finally opened to his spiritual state.

About Nigel

In The Model, he was one of the closest brothers to Ash and he and Rebel accompanied Ash to his yacht to meet with Keltie and her friends. He was constantly stressed because of his job managing Lincoln Entertainment. He was especially stressed out because of one of his singers Andie Rose, who never listens to him.

About Andie

You also met Andie in The Model. She was in a photoshoot with Ash. Keltie was the photographer but she had to leave because of the occult imagery they were portraying. Andie is headstrong, stubborn and independent, but only because she’s lived a hard life and knows no other way of surviving.

The Social Butterfly and The Recluse

Image result for opposite couples quotes

Nigel and Andie couldn’t be more different than chalk and cheese, and their relationship has been turbulent since day 1. Maybe that’s why they’re so drawn to each other…

Being Andie’s manager, Nigel is trying to keep his distance, despite his feelings. Then he realizes that Andie is in danger and decides to defend her against powerful people.

Love Hate

But how do you defend someone who thinks she can defend herself? And how do you love someone who constantly drives you crazy?

Most of all, Jesus told us in Luke 11 that ‘If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand?’ Nigel is trying to fight powerful people by the same power they’re using, but it takes light to overcome darkness.

Here’s the synopsis.

How far should you go for success?
Starlet, Andie Rose, knows a lot about the dark side of the music industry. She’s happy to use this knowledge to her advantage until things start to spiral beyond her control.

How far should you go for love?
Nigel Lincoln has been drawn to Andie since the day he set eyes on her at an audition, but he’s her manager, so there are lines that shouldn’t be crossed.
When danger comes knocking on Andie’s door, Nigel decides to intervene, but it may be at his own expense.

True love is sacrificial, but if it came down to it, could he really lay down his life for her?

Sneak Peek – The Bet

Further to my previous post, The Bet (The Dare 2) is also coming out March 16th.

**I have attached sample chapters just after the preorder links :-)**

In book 1, The Dare, Sloane found out that her mom was having an affair and it became her excuse to go off the rails. In this book you get her mom’s point of view about the whole situation and her dad’s too. And Sloane learns some big life lessons.

Lottie Golding

Sloane’s mom is ambitious and highly driven. In The Bet you get answers to why she was always so hard on Sloane and why she had an affair.

Kurt Golding

Sloane’s dad’s POV was pretty hard to write. I wanted to take out some of the thoughts he had and some of the things he does to deal with the failure of his marriage, but he’s a man who feels like he has lost everything so his thoughts and actions had to be realistic.

Sloane and Marshal

Image result for relationship quotes about breaking upHe’s still chasing and she’s still running. With all that’s going on, Sloane just can’t be in a relationship. She’s battling tough decisions, and after her decision is made she must battle with whether she made the right choice. On top of all this she has her college finals and Miss USA coming up.

Other key players:

Jacob Wright – Sloane meets him at her new job at the governor’s office. After all that has happened with Marshal maybe there’s no hope for them. Maybe she needs to start over with another guy.

Eli Aaronson, Marshal’s dad – He’s a womanizing marriage-wrecker who thinks he can do whatever he likes and get away with it. Is he ever going to get what’s coming to him?

Isaac Aaronson, Marshal’s uncle – bitterness towards Eli has festered in his heart for years, especially when Eli does nothing to help his fifteen-year-old daughter Christy who is dying of cancer. He’s close to cracking.

Here’s the synopsis:

If your mom was having an affair would you tell your dad?

Sloane:
My mom is supposed to be the perfect Christian, but she’s a hypocrite, and it’s eating me up inside. Is staying quiet about it the right thing to do, or is my silence consent? Her disappearance is tearing my dad apart. He deserves to know that the woman he’s so worried about is a liar and a cheat. But do I have the guts to tell him?

Marshal:
Watching Sloane’s life unravel isn’t easy. And it makes it even harder for me to stay away from her despite her saying we’re over. We don’t have to be defined by our parents’ mistakes, but Sloane seems to be on autopilot on the highway to self-destruction. And I don’t know how to help her.

Sneak Peek!! Read The First 2 Chapters of The Dare

Read the first two chapters of The Dare Now: The Dare – Sample

Last year I surveyed my readers and asked what you all want to read next, and in second place, with almost 50% of the votes, was ‘A series like the Beauty for Ashes Series (Lexi & Jace)’. You can read that post here.

So, I bring you The Dare series. I totally set out to write something like my Beauty for Ashes series, but it soon became its own thing. But there are still some similarities.

Similarities/differences to the Beauty for Ashes series

Lexi, in Beauty for Ashes, was really troubled, as is Sloane, the heroine in The Dare. And Sloane is a pageant girl, which is pretty similar to Lexi being a model. Sloane is really ambitious like Lexi was.But I think that’s where the similarities end. There’s a whole lot of family drama and coming of age stuff in The Dare. Sloane has to grow up in the series. She realizes that life is not all that straightforward and that bad things happen but it’s your response to those bad things that count. Justice can’t be forced. Sometimes we have to just let God deal with us rather than focusing on the things other people are doing wrong. This is all very

But I think that’s where the similarities end. This is all very crptic, ha ha. I’m trying not to give too much away.

Also, she thinks Marshal is her worst nightmare as far as guys go. But he’s actually the one who shows her how to heal in the very last book after so much has happened. I’m currently writing the last book, tentatively called ‘The Gamble’, and I’m having a total ball.

A little more about the main characters:

Sloane Golding

Sloane has been competing in pageants since her early teens. She dreams of competing at Miss World someday. She sees pageants as a launching pad into public office and wants to work in politics. At the beginning of The Dare, she is dating Lawrence but has a secret crush on Marshal Aaronson, the campus bad boy.

Marshal Aaronson

Marshal’s dad is a billionaire playboy, and although Marshal has followed in his footsteps, he doesn’t like the playboy life. He’s had a crush on Sloane since freshman year but he knows she’d never date a guy with a reputation like his.

And yes, it’s an interracial romance as you can see from the book cover. I don’t think I’ve written an interracial romance before. Lexi and Carl don’t count because that went horribly wrong.

Family Drama

I dedicated The Dare to every young person who has ever been discouraged by a moral failing in a parent or authority figure. I’ve been a youth worker and mentor for ten years now and it’s something that I’ve constantly come up against, young people disheartened by things their parents have done. The effect can be terrible.

In The Dare, Sloane makes a discovery about her mother that shatters her faith. She begins to question everything her mother has ever taught her and begins to use her mother’s mistake as an excuse to do the things her mother has always told her not to do.

Does her mother’s hypocrisy give Sloane the right to go off the rails? That’s something that Sloane needs to work out for herself.

Betrayal

Sloane can’t handle deception. Her mother’s betrayal turns her world upside down. So what’s going to happen if Marshal ever hurts her in any way? Or if she discovers that he had a reason for getting close to her in the first place?

The Dare is available for pre-order at: Amazon UK, AMAZON US, BARNES & NobleiBooksKobo & Smashwords.

Bible in a Year?/The Dare

I’ve been working on my goals for this year. My writing goals, as usual, are pretty unrealistic. I don’t know why I do this to myself but let’s see how close I can get to achieving them 🙂 I won’t bore you with exactly what they are, but they’re all about how many books I want to write and how many words a day I need to be writing in order to achieve that.

Bible in a Year

One of my personal goals is to read through the Bible. The last time I read it through, it took me much longer than a year. I really don’t like the idea of reading through the Bible in a year and have always been pretty resistant to it, but I’ve decided to give it a go. I don’t know if I’m actually going to make it, and it feels like an unrealistic goal for me but I know lots of people do it every year. To be honest, I think that reading the Bible in a year is one of those things that some people decided to do and now it’s become almost like a ‘must do’ for everybody (at least among the Christians that I know).

One of the main reasons I don’t like the idea is because I feel like I’m just rushing. It’s hard to ‘meditate’ on four or five whole chapters. There are just too many lessons to draw from such a large chunk. I’m one of those people who meditate on one verse and write a page of notes on it. Okay, that’s really slow and painstaking, but we’re all different. Anyhow, I’ve decided to give it a try. I’m already three chapters behind, and I’m making a conscious effort not to write notes on every verse, but I am still making notes of things that I just can’t ignore, ha ha.

The Dare

I finished writing The Dare early last year, but put it aside. I should have released it in December, since a significant portion of the book takes place in December, but I decided to release The Runaway instead. I’ve had emails from people who want books without any supernatural stuff in them so this book is for those of my readers who don’t like supernatural thrillers. It’s book one in a trilogy. Here’s the back cover blurb:

A good girl with an edge, a bad boy with a heart, and a devastating secret.

Sloane:
“I dare you to kiss Marshal.”
If I knew what was good for me I would have run a mile when I heard those words. But I didn’t, and now Marshal, the campus bad boy, is stalking me—his version of courting.

Marshal:
I’ll admit to nobody that I’m a sheep in wolf’s clothing. My reputation served me well until Sloane got close enough to peel away the façade.
But our parents have a crazy secret that is tearing Sloane apart. And it might spell doom for our relationship—just when I’ve lost my heart.

Is love enough for Marshal and Sloane, or are there too many obstacles?

The Dare is already available for pre-order, but as usual I’ll send an email alert on release day. Release day is 26 January 🙂

So…what are your new year’s resolutions/2017 goals?

The Runaway

3-the-runaway
The Runaway (The Lincolns 3)

The next book I’ll be releasing is called ‘The Runaway’ and I kind of wish I didn’t have to have a back cover blurb for this book, because if people read the blurb before they read The Model, which is the previous book, it’ll ruin part of The Model for them. I think.

Anyway, I can’t not have a blurb so here it is (it’s a pretty long one):

How do you keep a new faith when your own brother would kill you if he ever found out?

By faking death! At least that’s what Junior Lincoln decides to do. As the youngest of the twelve Lincolns, and being full brothers with Jared, he knows that his new faith will never go anywhere if he doesn’t do something. With assistance from the FBI he assumes a new identity and relocates to a small town.

His aim is to lay low, blend in and finish his college degree. But if he wanted to do that he shouldn’t have taken a job as a relationship counselor, fondly known by the townsfolk as the Love Doctor. He shouldn’t have let himself fall for his first client. And most of all, he should have made sure it never got out that he’s an ex-practitioner.

How do you make your child’s father marry you?

Hazel Robbins, desperate to make Nate fall in love with her so that their daughter will have a better childhood than she had, turns to Junior, aka the Love Doctor, for help. But as they spend time together their ‘practice dates’ begin to feel like the real thing.

When paranormal activity begins to sweep across the college campus, Hazel and the other students look to Junior for help. He’s the only one who seems to know what to do about it, and his prayers work.

But can Junior continue to depend on God when his life is suddenly in danger, or will he turn to the craft that he’s so used to relying on?

And can Hazel and Junior have a happy ending if she finds out his true identity?

***

I just sent The Runaway to my editor and beta readers, so I’m hoping to get it out before Christmas, but we’ll see. I initially had it scheduled for January but I think before Christmas should be doable.

In the meantime, my husband made my weekend last weekend because he revamped some of the Crystal series covers. Here they are:

And these two have just been tweaked a little bit.

This is what they used to look like:

secrets5 sleeper Powerful Enemies

expose Wedding Kidnap

What do you think? I definitely prefer the new covers. I can’t wait to get these books into paperback now, just so I can see these covers in ‘real life’ lol.

Anyhoo, I’m going to take a short break from the Lincolns series in Jan or Feb and release book 1 of a brand new trilogy. I’ll tell you more about it when I have a book cover for it. But it’s not a thriller, or supernatural. It’s new adult romance/family drama. I’m currently working through the feedback my beta readers have given me about it. I feel pretty blessed that you guys don’t mind my genre-hopping 🙂

God bless & have a good weekend.

Sneak Peek of The Model (First 3 Chapters)

I promised to put up the first few chapters of the next Lincoln book, so here they are. Click on the book cover at the end of this blog post and it’ll take you there 🙂

I just read the ending of the book and gave a nice big sigh. I love happy romantic endings. But Ash and Keltie go through a lot of drama before they get there. Here’s the back cover blurb again.

He’s in love. She’s just doing her job.
Or is she?

The first rule of undercover work is not to fall for the guy you’re investigating. The second rule is not to continue working on a case that your boss has taken off you. FBI Special Agent, Keltie Nicolls, has broken both.

After one undercover date with hot new model, Ash Lincoln—a man who is as dangerous as he is attractive—Keltie decides she doesn’t have the strength to withstand his lethal brand of appeal. But backing out is not an option because Ash is like a sleeping lion that she has disturbed. She is his prey. And he seems bent on catching her.

His methods are intense.
His love is passionate.
But his worldview is toxic.

Can she guard her heart or will she be consumed?

The Next Lincoln Book: Toxic/The Model

2 the model 5.jpgThe next book in the Lincolns series was supposed to be called Toxic, but it’s now called The Model and will be out November 4th 🙂

You can pre-order from Amazon UK & Amazon US

I don’t want to bore you with the details of why the title has changed :-S But the title of each book in this series will be named around the job of the main character, or their circumstances. Since The Lincoln Manifesto gives an idea of what job each brother will have, you’ll be able to work out which Lincoln brother each book is about just by the title–for most of the books anyway. There’ll be one or two that won’t be titled by the main characters job.

So, The Model is about Ash Lincoln, the second eldest son. He’s the level-headed brother who is Jared’s voice of reason and who calms the other brothers down when they’re mad at Jared. So what happens when he starts having his own little crisis and falls out with Jared himself?

Here’s the back cover blurb:

He’s in love. She’s just doing her job.

Upcoming Books/Survey Results: What do you want to read next?

Image result for SURVEYI created a survey a last year asking you guys what you want me to write next. Thank you very much to everyone who responded!!! It looks like I have my work cut out for me over the next 2-3 years. Here are the results of the survey:

Answer Choices Responses
More books about Crystal, Juda and the team 70.71%
A series like the Beauty for Ashes Series (Lexi & Jace) 47.47%
A completely new romantic fiction series 39.39%
Something with supernatural elements like the Crystal series 38.38%
A series about Luke Lincoln’s other sons 30.30%
A standalone book that isn’t part of a series 28.28%
A series like the Pure Passion Series (Lust, Bondage & Purity) 19.19%
A series like the Drew Ashley Series (Breaking Point & Blurred Vision) 16.16%
Something with no supernatural elements 12.12%

Just in case you’re wondering, the results add up to more than 100 because you were allowed to select more than one option 🙂

I’ve decided to do anything that’s gotten over 30% of votes because that’s roughly a third of my readers and a third is still significant.

So…I cannot believe that 70% of you still want to read more about Crystal and her buddies. I wasn’t entirely sure anyone would make it through the whole 9 books of the Crystal series, never mind wanting more.

Here’s what’s going to happen:

More books about Crystal, Juda and the team (70% of votes)

I’ll be writing a season 2 series. You know the way TV shows are in series? Well I’ve decided that the Crystal series is just season 1. Season 2 is tentatively titled The Crystal Chronicles. I’m excited about it because I’ve been brainstorming and I already have some awesome ideas and a rough overview of what each book will be about. It won’t be out for a while though. I think we all need a little break so that when season 2 comes out it’ll be nice and exciting for us (absence makes the heart fonder and all that 🙂 ) Besides I need time to write it. I’m going to keep brainstorming, but I’ve scheduled the actual writing of the books for next year. I’ve already done my writing schedule for 2017 which is really exciting. I’m hoping to get all the season 2 books written next year then release them all in quick succession in 2018.

A series like the Beauty for Ashes Series (47% of votes)

This one is pretty easy. I figured I could dash it off without too much trouble so I’ve already written book 1. It’s called The Dare. It has a lot of the same elements as the Beauty for Ashes series, but it’s also pretty different, and a lot more gritty (I think). Apart from the drama in the main relationship in the book there’s drama with the hero and heroine’s parents too. I’ll tell you more about this series soon, since the first book is already in editing and will be out pretty soon.

A completely new romantic fiction series (39% of votes)

I’m really excited about this one. I don’t want to say too much, because it won’t be out for a while, but it’s in the works.

Something with supernatural elements like the Crystal series (38% of votes)

This one is very exciting. For someone who can’t stand to watch or read anything ‘scary’ or too intense, I can’t believe how much fun I have writing this supernatural thriller stuff. Obviously I wouldn’t have so much fun doing it if it wasn’t deeply romantic too :-). This one is set in the world of the Crystal series and stars Angel, one of Yelissa Neir’s protégés. You met her in Legacy (Crystal 9). I think Trixie, Crystal’s awful ex-best friend, is going to feature as one of the villains.

A series about Luke Lincoln’s other sons (30% of votes)

This is in the works too. In fact I’ll be ready to release book 1 soon. It’s a prequel that introduces you to all the brothers. Each brother is going to have his own book. Think the current billionaire bad boy romance trend but with a big dose of Jesus and some supernatural elements 🙂 I’m being careful not to make the boys all clones of Juda. Jared, the eldest, is pretty similar to Juda (before Juda was saved) but the other boys have their own personalities and are very different. I’ll blog more about this series over the next few weeks and should be able to do a cover reveal for the first book, The Lincoln Manifesto, very soon.

So, I hope you’re satisfied that I listened to your opinion and will act upon your feedback. It’s going to take me a while to get through all these projects, but rest assured that they’re coming.

God bless,

Dayo xx

Cleansing my Palate – Pressure (Pure Passion 4)

PRESSURE COMPLETE.jpgHowdy guys,

I’m in that funny little place where I’m between writing projects and I don’t quite know what to do with myself. Well, actually I do know what I should be doing. I should be editing the four books that are sitting on my laptop waiting to be released. But I don’t like editing. Writing is much more fun.

I have done some editing, though. I finished editing Pressure (Pure Passion 4) last week, and even sent it on to an editor, which is pretty exciting. The Crystal series was quite intense, so it was nice to work on something a little milder. It totally cleansed my palate. I think I’ll release that next so that you all can cleanse your palates too.

I have lots of thrillers lined up to write, and also lots of sweet romances. It’s hard to decide what to write next. Today, I asked myself ‘What kind of writer do you want to be remembered as?’ Someone who wrote sweet, run of the mill Christian romance, or someone who wrote books that were deep and thought provoking and made people pause to think. I do like writing sweet romance, and romance can be powerful and meaningful. But thrillers are really growing on me. The best is when both genres are combined as romantic thrillers. I think that adding some romance into a thriller (especially if it’s an agonizing romance, like Juda’s and Crystal’s was to begin with) makes for addictive reading. And it means I don’t get bored with writing 🙂

Do you ever feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day for all the things you want to do? My best friend asked me last week if I have any more books planned. I was like, “girl I have 175 books on my ‘to be written’ spreadsheet.” She probably thought I was joking. I wasn’t. And I feel a sense of urgency about writing them, because I don’t want to spend the rest of my life looking at that spreadsheet. I want to write all those books by the time I’m 40. My husband just shook his head at me when I told him that. To be honest, I know it’s crazy, but there’s no harm in trying. If I miss my goal, I’ll settle for 45. Or 50. Nah, 40 would be ideal. (No questions about my age please :-))

Anyway, so I’m taking a break from practitioners and craft and light vs. darkness (:-) ). Pressure, a contemporary Christian romance that I wrote back in 2013, will be next. I’ll release once I get it back from the editor and I’ve had a quick look over his amendments. (Yes, my editor is a dude this time. I just hope reading all the romantic elements of Pressure isn’t too torturous for him, ha ha).

Here’s the back cover blurb for Pressure:

A woman in despair.

Brooke Chandler has lived with the guilt of her brother’s death for nine years. Despite her efforts to put the loss behind her, it still haunts her. It doesn’t help that her parents blame her, or that they see her guilt as an excuse to control her.

On the eve of her wedding to a man selected by her parents, Brooke runs away. Never mind that her fiancé is the son of the biggest preacher in the city, or the fact that as a preacher’s kid herself, she is supposed to follow the rules.

James Cassidy knows a thing or two about pain, having been jilted by the love of his life two years ago. He didn’t think he was ready for love again, but there’s something about Brooke that stirs him the way no other woman ever has. But can he love a woman who has jilted another man, just as he was jilted?

Even if he can, Brooke’s heart is surrounded with seemingly insurmountable walls.

When Brooke decided to leave, she didn’t expect to run straight into the hands of a new man. And she didn’t expect to fall in love.

Can James’ faith cause Brooke to rethink her decision to turn her back on God? And can his love bring her healing?

Pressure is a compelling love story of faith overcoming fear, and freedom from guilt.

***

I’m terrible at writing book descriptions. Some of you have told me that in the past (thanks for that feedback, ha ha). I really tried hard with this one. It might change. I’ll see if my editor has anything to say about it.

Ciao xx
